and this is what she wants to know:
Okay, so here we go.I want to know about your first ‘celebrity’ crush.
You know, the one you fancied from that band,
or that film, or who read the news, or who won Gold at the Olympics.
Did you have their pictures on your wall or in your locker?
Did you dress like them, style or colour your hair like them,
follow them, meet them, marry them? (It could happen.)
Photos of THEM would be good,
photos of YOU at the time you liked them would be even better.
Also, if you have time,
I’d like to know whether they had any influence over your life,
the person you became,
or if they were just an embarrassing blip you would kind of rather forget about.Okay?
At first glance I thought I'd have to skip this assignement.
I was a perfectly sensible young girl, nothing too quirky, so ...
Not very interesting huh?
Okay, so I watched the Partridge Family,
especially because of David Cassidy but everybody did that in those days.
I liked David Bowie, but I did not colour my hair like him.
Nor did I dress like him.
Now that would have been interesting blogstuff!
I am really looking forward to meet somebody in this Fun Monday
who did do all of the above! Because I did not do any of that!
Exept ...
We did not have television at my parents house
until I was about thirteen or fourteen years old.
We watched "Mannix" on Saturday evenings,
(in black and white, can you imagine?)
and every once and a while there was a Hitchcock movie.
That's how I met HIM ...
I loved everything about HIM.
The way HE was dressed, HIS warm voice ... Everything.
And HIS face, mmmm ....
But what attracted me the most about HIS face were
his eyebrows.
No not his eyes, well ... those too of course,
but his eyebrows...
That left one to be more specific.
If you take a good look at the pictures above,
you can see it .
His left eyebrow tends to rise a little.
See, even on this picture, on that scooter with Katherine Hepburn in Roman Holliday, he does it.
He rises
his left eyebrow.
Cute huh?
No, not on this one,
he rises his right eyebrow on this picture.
But anyway, I adored that.
I fell in love with that expressive face.
And then I started practising.
In the bathroom, in front of the mirror.
In my bed.
Even in church, when I got bored with the speeches.
I practised.
And practised, until finally ...
I remember how my heart jumped the first time I could do that too!
I could raise my left eyebrow, just like HIM!!
And I could impress my teachers at shool doing that!
Especially my English teacher!
I did! Yeah!
And you know what?
I still can!!!
Yes!!!
Isn't that great?
Other than that, I grew up to be completely normal!
I think???
