Thirteen Reasons why I love Spring

1. All the trees are getting new leaves again.
There is something about that fresh new green.
All of a sudden, after a long winter,
they're back, and the world is full of colour again!

2. The days are getting longer, I know this is just an illusion,
there are always (only) 24 hours in a day,
no matter what season it is.

3. The first buds, and the first flowers on the plants outside.


4. Waking up and hearing the birds sing!
I always wonder what on earth they are talking about!

5. The Great Tits started nesting again.
It's always great to see them come back, year after year.

6. My herbs start to grow again. I just love my herb garden.
Cooking is not the same without them.


7. We can eat outside again!
Yesterday was the first time we had lunch outside.
It feels like being on holliday!

8. The blossoms on the trees, I love those fragile flowers.


9. Planning hollidays! We're off to Normandy next week,
it's just a couple of days, but I'm very much looking forward to it!

10. A few extra days off, in the month of May.
To me, the month of May is the most beautiful month of the year,
and I always feel it passes twice as fast as the rest of the year!

11. There are all sorts of outside activities being organized again.


12. I can leave the doors of the study and the kitchen wide open.
My cat loves it, she can go out and enjoy the sun as much as she wants,
and I can hop from the study straight to the patio, or into the kitchen.

13. With all the windows open, I can enjoy the sound of the children
on the playground of the nearby school, I hear the birds singing
and let some fresh air into the house!


I love spring, it's my favourite season!

Tackle it Tuesday, Never Can Say Goodbye...

It was on my things to do list a couple of weeks ago and I did it!

I did it!

Spring must be getting at me, all I want ( besides blogging)
is to have things neat and organized right now!
I must admit, the support of all you other tacklers out there
is a great incentive.
This job had been waiting for me for years.
Every year, I washed and ironed all my clothes,
over and over again, and I could never bring myself to get rid of them.
"What if you loose weight again?" I said to myself.
" You should, you know!" another voice whispered.
Okay, three years ago, I lost quite a lot of weight.
That was the positive part of the health problems I had,
I started to loose weight without much effort,
and I bought a whole new wardrobe.
(It was fun buying clothes back then. )
But then I quit smoking, and one by one,
they ( the kilo's, the weight) all came back to me!

They even invited a few friends, duh!


I wanted to make stacks, Trinny and Susannah style,
you know .. yes ... no ... maybe.
Instead, I emptied the dresser on the bed
and I was faced with the huge task of trying everything on,
evaluating everything ... and finally saying goodbye to stuff
that had been lingering on for years and years!

I have added some music here.

It kind of dates the era of my clothes.
Music like that is perfect if you're cleaning, I always find it helps ...
I need all the help I can get doing chores like this!
Anyway.

I took one last photograph of my hand-knitted sweater,
I knitted it twenty five years ago, and maybe wore it twice?
Could never say goodbye to it, it was the first thing I ever knitted!


From then on, things started to look better.
Exept for my handbags, they were all over the place.
And then I remembered that old vintage suitcase I had, that would be perfect!
By now, the Martha Stewart in me was wide awake.
I polished the suitcase with some old fashioned bees wax,



and filled a cotton bag with dried lavender flowers,
and some essence to perfume the inside of the suitcase.

Perfect, isn't it?
As for the shoes ...

I found this, it's on wheels, and it slides under the furniture.
That makes it very easy to vacuum and get rid of the dust bunnies!

There, I'm so glad that's over with!

Looking Through Project Green

Anna is doing a new project,
it's called Project Green.
But I love Project Looking Through too.

I think this picture suits them both.



It's a barn goats sleep in,
I saw it when I explored this peaceful place.
I love the quote between the door and the window,
I would have wanted it to contrast a little bit more,
but I like my pictures as natural as they come,
and I really don't like photoshopping them ...
( Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know? )

Anyway, it says:
" Consideratus et humilis sicut Asinus"

Fun Monday Things that make my Life worth living

This week's host for Fun Monday is Southern Doll
Here's what she wants to know:

What have you done in your life that was worth doing?
I want to know the moments in your life that you hope will be the ones to pass through your mind when your time comes.
I hope that doesn't sound too morbid.
This doesn't necessarily have to be items you have checked off your Bucket List,
it can be those small moments that made you smile,
or the time you got that huge promotion you deserved,
or the first time your baby smiled at you out of pure joy.
I want to know all the moments,
big and small, that make life sweet!
If you don't already have a running list of these in your mind, you should!
These moments help you remember how much your life is worth living,
and we all deserve to enjoy it.

Small and big moments that will pass through my mind when my time comes?
Let's see, if I go back to my childhood,
it would be the hollidays I spent with my grandmother,
the simplest things, our weekly trip to the grocery shop,
going to church, and the cup of hot chocolate she made
when we got home.


My daughter, she was a cute smily happy little baby ...

Meeting my husband, the way he proposed to me,

We share a great life together, what more can I want?

The places we've been visiting
