Photohunt "Water"

Theme for this week's Photohunt is "water".
I'm on holliday in the South of France at the moment,
this is a planned post so I'm not able to add my link.
But I still wanted to make my contribution.



Fountains like these can be found on numerous places in the Provence.

This year we're planning on visiting Pernes-les-Fontaines,
a village with (I think it's thirteen) fountains.
I hope to come back with lots of pictures!

Postcard from la Provence, l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

This is the town we live in for two weeks each year.
We have rented the same house in this town
for a couple of years now
and it has become our second home town.
I know (some of ) the shops, and the people who keep them,
I go to the butcher and to the baker's here,
visit the weekly markets on Sundays and on Thursdays,
just like everybody else who resides there.
Each year, it feels like coming home.

And grab a pastis in the shade at L'Arquet, our favourite bar,
when the shopping is done ...

I love it here ...

Wordless Wednesday: Saint Rémy, Van Gogh, and French Humour!

This plaque can be found in Saint-Rémy.
It says:
Vincent Van Gogh
was not born in this house.
Nor did he die here.


Typically French !
I like their sense of humour!

Postcard from the Provence, Dolls and Antique Toys

It's been ten years since we first started to visit La Provence,
and there are still places we haven't seen or visited yet!
I knew there was a museum of dolls and toys in l'Isle,
but I have only seen it from the outside
until I found this video on You Tube,
This museum is on my list of things to do on a rainy day from now on!

I'm sorry the video is in French,
but it's still very much worth watching
because it shows gorgeous dolls and toys!

Basicly what the lady says in the interview is
that the museum was born out of the passion a one single woman,
a collector with a huge love for dolls.
The museum has about 250 dolls on display.
80% of them were restored by her using only original materials.
She refused to use anything but old laces and fabrics.

I really want to visit this museum,
and I hope to come back with loads of pretty doll pictures!

Postcard from La Provence, Over the Rainbow ...

One night as I was preparing dinner in "my" kitchen
this strange light caught my attention.
When I went outside to make a picture, I saw this ...


Minutes later it grew very very dark ...


Ten minutes later we got this stunning rainbow ...



It's a double one, can you see it?





Oh, the French word for rainbow is "arc-en-ciel".
I like that word, it's almost as pretty as the rainbow itself!

Weekly Winners At the Market

I know I can't link into that mr Linky at Sarcastic Mom's,
so most of you won't even know I have posted something today.
It is a planned post, and I can't visit you back just yet
because we are on holliday in France.
For those of you who were brave enough
to still keep visiting me I have sampled
some pictures here I took last year
visiting markets in the Provence, France.
It's always a feast of colour...
