Quirky Fun Monday ...

Lisa is our host for this week's edition of Fun Monday.
This is what she wants to know ....

A quirk is defined as a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality; mannerism. We are all unique individuals, having quirks that help make us who we are. I would like to know what your quirks are. Confess to one, confess to ten, you decide. Just come back Monday ready to spill the beans, the rest of the world may look at you like you are from Mars, but you‘re among friends here. We won’t laugh, in fact that eccentricity just may endear you to us more.

I just got home last night from our holliday in France last night.
When I saw this Fun Monday subject,
I could not resist to join in, even if it is very last minute!
That's one of my quirks as well,
I need memes to know what I'm going to write about!

But to keep the holliday feeling a little longer,
I'll tell you all about my holliday quirks.
They are slightly different from the quirks I have at home,
now how's that for quirky, huh?
First quirk is my trunk with kitchen ustensils and stuff.

This trunk stays at the house we rent in France.
I love to cook, even when we are on holliday.
I always used to end up missing certain kitchen ustensils,
pots that were too big, or not big enough,
and buying new kitchen stuff things in France.
Finally, we bought a trunk and asked to keep it there for us,
so when we get back I can use all of my own things.

But besides the trunk there are the samples of herbs and spices,
oils, vinegars and condiments I take with me.
I would just hate to lack a certain ingredient,
or experience limits when I try to invent new recipes.
So yes, I take all of this with me and bring it back home each year!

I take loads of cookbooks with me, but I never follow one single recipe!
I need them to inspire me, and I decorate the house with them!
** Mental note to myself: please promise to take not as many next year.
Those two suitcases weigh tons!

When we go to the market, I have to have my basket.
No way I'd leave without it.
But this year, my hubby needed to carry it for me,
as I was very busy taking pictures as well!

I really need to write my diary each year as well.
So this is what I do first thing in the morning....

... or late in the evening.
This one is my cooking diary by the way ....

New flip flops.
I really need to buy new flip flops in France each year.
That summer holliday feeling lasts all year long
when I wear them at home, even in winter ...

And last but not least ...
Taking pictures of everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING!

You can click on this last one to enlarge it,
and you'll discover my reflection in the mirror of the car.
I'm taking a picture of my hubby taking pictures!
How's that for quirkyness?

That's it for today folks, I really need to get unpacked now!
If you want more quirkyness, go visit the others at Lisa's Chaos!

Weekly Winners, favourite Pictures from Last Year's trip to La Provence

Today is our last day of our vacation in France.
We are due back today or tomorrow.
Just In case I'm not back yet,
I have planned this post with my favourite pictures from last year.
Enjoy ...

My favourite restaurant in Goult,
La Bartavelle.
This is also in Goult.
I liked how the flowers in that pot
are almost the same colour as the door of that house .

The abbey of Sénanque.

I have already published this one once, but hey,
after all this is my absolute favourite picture!

Favourite drink ... Pastis .

Favourite flowers, Lavender and Poppy's

Return from the market.

I'm not sure where this is, but I like it.

Say hi from me there,
I'll be joining in for real again as of next week!

Postcard from La Provence, Gig Street

On Sundays, there is the weekly market in l' Isle-Sur-la-Sorgue.
That's when we stop and listen to these guys.
They are called Gig Street.
We have known them for years now, we bought all of their CD's.
Thanks to You Tube they are already getting
more and more famous each year.
I just hope they'll keep playing like they have done for years,
on the corner of the street on market days ...
From the first moment we've met them,
(almost ten years ago now) I have always loved their music.
Enjoy! I bet you can't sit still either!

It's a Men's World ...

This is a typically French game, called petanque
or "jeu de boules" in French.
I would not really know how to play it, it's really a men's game,
there are usually no women allowed!

Still, if you want to find out more about the game,
click this link.

Every village has a petanque court.

But in the village Saignon, it has a rather weird location ....
It's right next to the cemetery!

Pretty Windows

I love to photograph windows when I'm here in France.

This one is in Goult, the old Post office.
I did a post on it once, it's here,
click on the link if you missed it or if you want to see it again.

I don't remember where this one is,

and this was a deserted cottage in the middle of nowhere.

The one with the butterflies was in Saignon.

And this used to be a shoe shop.
It's in Sault.

This is one of my favourites, I think it was in Séguret, but I'm not quite sure.

Wordless Wednesday, Nature and Beauty in Provence

I'm not able to join Wordless Wednesday for real,
I can't add my link because this is a planned post,
and I am on holliday at the moment.
But it would be so nice to still get a comment from you?

See you!

Can I Offer You some Dessert Maybe?

This is a very simple but delicious deesert I made last year.
Remove the pits from the black cherries,
and let them marinate in some red Port for a while.

Peel and slice a Cavaillon melon.
You can also add some sliced figs you feel like it.
Serve them in a tumbler and garnish with a sprig of fresh basil.

Enjoy!

Weekly Winners, Séguret

I'm on holliday in France at the moment,
but I have prepared this post in advance,
for all of you to enjoy!

I'll take you for a walk in this small village called Séguret.
Click on the link to get a Google map with the exact location.

It's a very pretty village, and I think they like their cats a lot there ...

There's a picture behind every corner.

I won't be able to sign the Mr Linky today,
but if you want to see other Weekly Winners
visit Sarcastic Mom's blog, and say hi for me will you?
