Wordless Wednesday We're Off to get New Pictures ...

More or less Wordless today ....

I'm posting this picture today to tell you
that we are on our way to Normandy for a couple of days.
We're doing a mini photohunting trip,
and I hope we'll have loads of new pictures when we come back!
I have been counting the days,
I'm so looking forward to exploring
a new piece of the globe I have not seen before!

See you all again real soon!
By the way, don't despair,
I am posting a little something here every day,
so I won't be letting you down, my faithful visitors!

It's all thanks to Blogger and the Blogger in draft option!
If all goes well, you'll get a new post every day!
See you!

Spring is right here at my kitchendoor

"Teetu teetu teetĂș !!!"

It's still very early in the morning,
but the young parent Tits are already very busy feeding their young ones.

I can watch their activities from my kitchen, I think it's a gift from heaven.
The eggs must have hatched by now, the parents are flying off and on all day.
I can hear them calling to the young ones when they arrive,
pretty soon I'll be able to hear the little ones sqeaking as well.

It's funny, but they have a special routine with what they do.
They always sit ont the willow first,

next he hops on the (potted) tree on my patio,

The plantstand ...

Into the nesting cage, and out again ...

Click on the picturees to enlarge.
You'll see him/her coming out of the cage again!

This is the highlight of spring season to me,
watching them building a nest first,
and then raising their little ones ....
right here at my kitchendoor!

Fun Monday, ( One of ) my Favourite Walks

This week's Fun Monday is hosted by Aoj and the lurchers.

This is what's it all about ...
I'm going to make it a nice and easy Fun Monday this week.
All I want you to do is take me on your favourite walk.
In words or pictures. Or both of course!
Tell me why it's your favourite and point out things of interest on the way.

So go get your walking boots on!

This one is really "up my alley".
I share my walks (almost) every week
in my Weekly Winners on Sundays.

Here we go.
We're in Antwerp, and this is the entrance to the Botanical Garden.

This is where you can see the sculptures I featured on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about them.
Maybe I should ask my friend Joris, he's a guide, maybe he knows?

Let's enjoy the flowers while we're here.
Spring is my favourite season.

There is a huge collection of succulents and cactusses here.
They are still in the greenhouse now.

Hmmm, I have this craving for a nice cup of coffee.
Care to join me?
I know just the place.

Come, follow me ...

The Bourla , it's a theatre.
The man in the picture is Hugo Claus,
one of our greatest Belgian writers who died recently.
His memorial service was held here.

Let's go in, it's such a beautiful place.

Look up, great isn't it?
Oh, and the coffee is delicious.

Let's get on the road again, shall we?

A little windowshopping maybe?

In case you should get lost, just try to locate the cathedral ...

You're in the heart of Antwerp now.
I hope you enjoyed your walk!

Don't forget to walk along with the others too.
You never know where they might take you!

Weekly Winners at the Brewery

Belgium is famous for its beer brewing tradition.
Breweries all over Belgium opened their doors to the public last Sunday.

And of course we were there too, trying to capture the atmosphere

and show you what a Belgian brewery looks like,
inside ...
and outside.

Modern stainless steel,

versus the red copper of the old equipment.

Old versus new.

This device was used this to fill the botlles in the old days.

But the modern one is much, much faster!

New barrels,

and old ones ...

Brewery De Koninck, Antwerp

Palm Breweries, Steenhuffel

This is my contribution for this week's Weekly Winners.
I loved every minute of this, I hope you do too!

Photohunt, a Unique or Funny Sign

This week's assignment for Photohunt is
"A funny / unique sign."

I had some trouble finding one in my archives,
until I remembered this one.
It was taken in Agadir, Morocco.
I like the symbol with the masks
pointing the direction to the theatre.

Sorry folks, this is the best I could find!

Let's go see what the others have found!

Favourite Ingredients Friday Going Green ...

I was trying to figure out a way to match
Project Green
together with Favourite Ingredients Friday
when I stumbled across these pictures.

It's a great idea for a children's party, and it's not all that difficult to make.

Make an incision in the cucumber of 10-12 cm,
and use toothpics to keep his mouth open.

Use pumpkin seeds to make the teeth,
a raisin and a piece of celery for the eyes and eyebrows,
and a piece of tomato for his tongue.

It's fun, isn't it?
