Project Black Happy Birthday Belgium!

Today we celebrate Belgium's birthday.
Now I'm not a great nationalist myself, but still I am proud to be a Belgian.
We're a small but very beautiful country.
And through this blog,
I feel as though I'm representing my country a little.
After all, it's name is in my blog title?

However, the political climate today in Belgium is some what... um ... unstable?
That's why I'm including this picture today ...
The red yellow and black are our national colours by the way ...
Oh, ... a sky like that is a typically Belgian sky ... on a good day that is!

This is my Project Black picture for today.

If you're curious what we in Belgium are all about, check this site.
It's a hilarious A-Z of Belgium, as seen through the eyes
of a foreigner who has lived here.
He has some amazing views on Belgian matters or places.
You should read about Bokrijk for instance,
the museum I featured yesterday in my Weekly Winners.
It's funny, but it's true!

Weekly Winners, Let's go Back in Time ...

It was a beautiful sunny day, last Sunday.
We had blue skies and some pretty clouds.
Ideal for a photo walk.

Let's go back in time, let's say about a hundred years .

Now, in case you're wondering,
you're not in a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale.
This is a museum.
Everything is authentic and real, even the tiniest little detail.

The old houses are all original houses,
taken down at their previous location somewhere in Flanders
and rebuilt again at the museum site.

The housekeepers are dressed in the right style and fashion of that time.

Of course you can go in and visit the houses inside.
Each house is a mini museum on its own...

The previous two pictures are my Project Black pictures for today ...

Every detail is just right ...

Even the sounds, can you hear that horse and wagon on the cobblestones?
Or the herd of sheep?

The farm animals are old breeds ...
They are blessed to live there, look ...

A happy pig taking a mud bath?
When did you last see one?
(I could not only see and hear this one, ;-)) ...)

It was a paradise for a girl with a camera ...

Please click on this one, it will show full size.
It's worth it, believe me!

If you still can't get enough of this,
visit my previous posts of this week,
and you'll see more pictures from this location.

This link will take you to the website of the Bokrijk Museum.
You never know, if you want to visit Belgium, it's definitely a must see!

Photohunt / Project Black " What is this?"

I had a bit of an off day yesterday.
Nothing that I tried seemed to work.
I tried to take some pictures of details of my old sewing machine,
but nothing came out right.
I'm having some difficulty understanding this theme though.
Should we publish a picture of something "unidentified"?
Are we supposed to let everyone guess?
Or should we show and tell?
It was hard for me to find a picture that does not clearly show what is on it.
Even harder to find one fitting in the Project Black theme as well ...
I guess I'll have more fun visiting yours !

Maybe I'm not supposed to, but I will show and tell.
These are sets of balls for the French "pétanque", or "jeu de boules".
I saw them at the market of Saint Rémy.
I like the reflection of the yellow sunscreen in them.

There it is, my Project Black / Photo Hunt picture for today.

Project Black Take Eight

Today's picture for Project Black was taken last Sunday.
It's in one of the houses at the museum of Bokrijk, Belgium.
This museum shows life as it was a hundred years ago.

It was also the location of the previous two Project Black series.

I included the first picture just to give you an idea.
The second one is my real Project Black picture.
It's one of my favourite Project Black pictures so far!

I'm really looking forward to see the other entries!

Ruby Tuesday meets Project Black

Mary the teach, over at Work of a poet is hosting this Ruby Tuesday meme.
The idea is to post pictures with red in them.
I joined in for the first time last week
and I got such a sweet comment last night
asking me if I would play again this week!
Of course I want to, I loved it!
As I was taking pictures on this old farm last Sunday,
I made these with Ruby Tuesday in mind!

But I cannot neglect Project Black either,
that one is also great fun!
So instead of red, you post a picture with black.
We call them black in color,
and here's my Project Black entry for today.
It was taken on that same farm.

Project Black, Black Velvet

This Project Black is quite a challenge, but a very interesting one.
Black is sometimes hard to capture, but I'm having so much fun trying!
I had a go at these a couple of days ago,
the velvet Amaryllis flowers in my living room.
Black, but not quite, I love their rich dark color.

There, my Project Black entry for today.
Now I'm off to visit all of you!
I had a busy day taking pictures yesterday,
and I haven't been able to visit anyone back yet!
Shame on me, I know!

See you all at Anna Carson's Photography blog!

Weekly Winners, Shopping in Saint-Rémy

For this week's edition of Weekly Winners,
we'll go on a shopping trip to Saint-Rémy, in La Provence, in France.
The weekly market is held on Wednesdays,
let's see what we can find there, shall we?

Pottery ...

in all kinds of colors.

Now, talking of color ...

Don't you just want to buy them all?

Looking at all of these pretty thing to buy, you might forget to look up.
But you shouldn't, look!

We're in one of the cutest shopping streets now, Rue Carnot.

Oh and I didn't forget to take a picture of the fountain, Kim!

I love how they can put their goods outside on display.

Even the restaurants do the same!
Lots of cute restaurants there too, are you hungry yet?

Now, let's get inside my favourite shop in Saint-Rémy.
It's called Entre Sel et Terre, and they sell
all kinds of salts, spices, oils, vinegars, condiments,
you name it, they've got it!

Their collection of salts is amazing, from red to black, smoked salts,
salts with herbs, salts from all over the world.

These last two pictures are my Project Black pictures for today.

I guess that's it from me for today.
If you want to see more Weekly Winners,
go over to Sarcastic Mom's and visit the others too.
