Fun Monday Come on in...

This week's host for Fun Monday is Julie, and this is what she wants us to do:

I have decided to put a twist on the traditional Fun Monday. Instead of standing in your front door and taking a photo of what you see outside, let's turn around and take on of the inside. Maybe that will prompt some of us to pick up a tad (you know who you are). :)

Okay, come on in!
I'll give you the grand tour ...
You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge them a little bit more, okay?

I live on the first floor, you need to climb a spiral staircase first.
I haven't photographed that one because it looks rather boring, and it's in urgent need of a good cleaning. Melting snow and snow boots have left there traces, I'm afraid.
Anyway.
This is what you see when I open my door for you.

My welcome moose is still on the door.
I've become rather fond of him and the winter is not finished yet.
I'll let him stay a little while longer. The chair with the wreath is outside.
That chair was put there years ago because of our upstairs neighbour.
He had lung cancer and desperately needed a place to rest halfway climbing those awful stairs all the way to the second floor.
Unfortunately the man died many years ago, but the chair is still there.
Inside is my old sewing machine, a place where we usually put our keys and stuff.
The door on the left is the door of my living room.

So there ...
This is my living room. And yes, my Christmas tree is still up!
The only thing I dislike about it is that there is only one big window in the front,
and the other one is at the other side in my kitchen.
This area tends to be rather dark sometimes, especially with gloomy weather like today.

If you walk past the dining room table to the back, that's where my kitchen is.
It's an open kitchen, and I like that. I can still talk to my guests and see them while I'm cooking.
The kitchen has more light because it's close to the window of my patio.
It's the heart of the house really. When I'm not blogging, I can most likely be found there.
It's also the place where I have coffee with my friends or family visiting as well.

And while I'm at it, I might as well show you the rest.
(Well most of it, I skipped the bedroom and the guest room)
On the left you see my blogging space in the study, and on the right my bathroom.

There. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my world.
You were more than welcome.

Most of the pictures for this post were all taken today.
That's part of a photo challenge called "Thru my eyes"
I share with my partner in.... um ... no, not crime ... photography and blogger friend Gail.
We have challenged ourselves to try and use that camera every day to get to know it better.

Fun Monday, a Collection of Collections

If you're looking for my ABC pictures, don't dispair,
they are underneath this post,
so scroll down to the next one.
Not so fast, enjoy my Fun Monday first!

Mariposa is hosting this week's Fun Monday,
and this is what she wants of us ...

FUN Monday
is for us to have some FUN on a Monday...so I'm going to get into your minds and do just that...have some FUN!

Collections...

We all have them...and if you don't,
you do....you just may not realize it.
For some reason or another we all collect something
and we collect it for reasons
that will definitely make for good reading.
So on Monday, I want to see your collection.
If you don't have or don't want or CAN'T (wink) show us
a picture, then tell us what the collection is in 10 words or less.
Then tell us why you started collecting it.

Some people have signed up already even before knowing
the challenge...brave souls!!!

I invite ALL of you to join...let's all make Monday a FUN Monday!!!

Now this is an assignment that sounds like fun!!
Looking at other people's collections, and sharing mine!
I said mine, yes, there's more than one collection in this house!
I already showed a tiny fragment of my teddybear collection,
it's here if you want to see it.

What else is there?

There's actually a collection of collections in this picture!
There are some antique corkscrews on the table, old glass jars,
carafes and some of my blue and grey earthenware pottery.

The glass jars contain ... a collection of pasta! Yeah, right!

A more detailed view of the corkscrews ...

More corkscrews here ...

In my kitchen there's a collection of old baskets,
I don't know how you would call them
but my grandmother called them egg baskets.
She used a similar one to take the eggs to the market.
The eggs were just simply wrapped in old newspapers!
Now that's a memory that made me smile, it just came to me!
I use them to store my onions, garlic and potato's.
I have some vintage kitchen ustensils on display there too.

Umm ... did I mention I have a small collection of chickens?

Egg cups?
Picture frames?

And pictures of course ...
Loads of them,
and they are right here on my blog,
for everyone to enjoy, every day!

But if you ask me why I collect al of these, I honestly don't know.
Every first thing I bought seemed to love company I guess?

This was fun!!
Now I am off to see what everybody else is collecting!
See you at Mariposa's!

Fun Monday ... roses , angels and other useless stuff!

Another Monday, another Fun Monday!
I joined forthe first time last week, and I enjoyed it very much!
So here we go again!
Our host for this week is Angela.
First of all, here's this week's asignment:

So continuing in the spirit of "being interested in people", I would like to know, or see, what's on, in or under your bedside table! So open those draws and bare your soul to us! Is there anything special there that has a story or a memory that you can tell us about? Books that you keep there to delve into from time to time? Trinkets that you don't know where else to put? Let's see!

This is what you see standing next to my bed. I sleep on the left side of the bed.
Traditionally, one would have a small closet on either side of the bed but we never got round to buying those . There was always something else we needed more...
So, no drawers here. My husband made round tables out of hardboard,
and I decorated them to fit a romantic bedroom.
I sometimes use lace as a top cloth, now I have one in Organza.
The potted rose is not real, they are silk roses.

This is the view from my bed.

This lamp is a souvenir from our holliday in the Provence.
We have two of them now, one on each side of the bed.
They are not identical, and we bought them as a souvenir from the Provence.
This is the first one we bought, we bought the other one two or three years later...

Our wedding picture ...
Oh, that clock does not work. Well it would if I put batteries in it, but it makes way too much noise! I use the little black one, if ever I need one, because I usually wake up before it goes off!

Yes, I believe in angels ...
I have scented candles, dried rosebuds, rose scented handcream
... and a eye gel I have to use every night, I keep it upright between those rosebuds!

Between the round table and the bed is a small table to put my glass of water on.
There's usually a little magazine on it ( that I don't get to read!)
I keep all of this handcream there as well, but I always forget to use it!!

In other words ...
A clock that does not work, magazines I don't read, handcream I don't use,
and scented candles that never burned ...
But at least it's pretty , isn't it?
