Weekly winners .... The abbey

We visited an abbey last Sunday.
Let me take you with me for a discovery walk.

and let's have a peek inside these gates ...

This is the main gate, parts of it were originally built in 1302.

Okay, we're in.
It's an old abbey, a very quiet and peaceful place.

This is how it must feel living here ...

My favourite building is this farmhouse.

I have this "thing" with doors, and I just couldn't resist this one ...

Reflections in the fountain,
that one drop really does it, I think?

Photohunt "Twisted"

This week's theme for Phothunt is " twisted".
This one was quite a challenge to me, but I think I found the right picture.
It was taken in the jail of Tongeren.
Yeah, I visit jails ... what are you thinking?
Well, it's not what you think...
It's a museum nowadays, and it's open to visitors.
I did a post on it a couple of weeks ago,
if you've missed it or care to see the whole story, click here.

See you all again next week!

Favourite Ingredients Friday, a quick Pasta Recipe

I found this meme hosted by Overwhelmedwithjoy.
(I found it through Tamy who visited my T Thirteen post yesterday)
I always thought it would be a great idea to post a recipe
from time to time, but I never got round to it.
Thus I decided to give it a go and join in on the cooking fun!

This is a very quick pasta recipe I made up
when I had to improvise a little with what was left over in my fridge.

These are the ingredients:
2 chickenbreasts
1 1/2 red onion
mixed mushrooms
red pepper
a couple of small tomatoes ....
(The vegetables I used were some leftovers in my fridge.
You can use what you like basicly.
Just add what you feel tastes well with chicken)
two slices of pancetta, diced.
(You can use regular bacon too ifyou like.)
Cream, I used the light version here.
Some chicken stock.
( I always keep some in my freezer in smaller
and bigger quantities,
I find it comes in quite handy for use in sauces.)

Dice the pancetta and let it sweat a while in your pan.
The melting fat of the pancetta will add it's flavour to the chicken later on.

If you keep the chicken breasts in the freezer,
you can easily cut them into thin strips, and they thaw quite fast.

Remove the pancetta, add a little sprinkle of olive oil.
Bake the chicken slices until golden brown.

Meanwhile also cut the vegetables into thin strips,
and prepare a pot of boiling water to cook the pasta.

Add the vegetables, stir fry for a while then add some chicken stock.
Let it simmer for a few minutes,
and let the stock reduce a little before adding the cream.

Meanwhile cook the pasta.
Sprinkle with some freshly chopped parsley and serve!

Thirteen Unfinished Projects ...

Stuff that I have started once with all the good intentions,
and never got to (probably never will ) finish.
I call them "my boulevard of broken dreams" ...

1. I have two knitted sweaters, half finished lying in my bedroom dresser.
I think that by the time I'll get to finish them,
they'll be so old fashioned that they will be fashionable again!
That's one of the reasons I can't get myself to throw them away!
2. At least two or three unfinished teddy bears
are still waiting to be put together.Their brothers have been
awaiting the birth of the little ones for years ...
3. Read the manual of my camera. Ummm...
4. Unpack that new sewing machine.
Well, I did unpack it, and I even tried using it once.
That's one of the reason #2 does not get finished!
I guess.... ??
5. Read the manual of that one as well. Yep! See what I mean?
6. Open that trunk of fabrics I have stored in my bedroom
and do something with it.
Something ... anything!
I can't even remember why I bought them in the first place!
By the time I get to using them they'll be fashionable again too!
7. Oh yes, I wanted to make a dress for my doll too.
She sits there naked, ewww!
In wich case fashion doesn't really matter all that much,
but it is still an unfunished project now is it?
8. Read all of the books I bought to take on holliday with me.
I don't even get to read them there either,
another hopeless project I guess?
9. Declutter my dresser of all the hopeless "what not to wear anymore" stuff
and go shopping for a whole new wardrobe. Ewww!
Sigh! I guess #10 should be "marry a millionaire?"
10. Work on the black dress of the torso displayed in my living room.
I don't think it will ever be completely finished,

there is always another stich and another little pearl to add, so ...
By the way, that torso is just doll size!
It's a shame and a pitty for me but I can't
put anything like this together for myself!
I wish I could ... I would not have to do #9 anymore!
Oh and umm ... if I could make dresses like that,
maybe I would be a millionaire?
11. A couple of drafts for this blog.
Remember the middle name meme Korie tagged me with?
It's going to stay there until forever I think?
12. Leaf through all of those culinary magazines I keep around the house
and tear them apart.
No no no .. I'm not about to destroy them,
just want to cut out all of the things that are important enough to keep.
13. Make pretty pages with all those clippings,
put them in plastic maps and into an organizer map.
Or two .... maybe three.
Four would be even more likely!
*Sigh* I started this project two years ago.
I keep buying new magazines, so I guess
it will never get finished? Unless .... Who knows?

Well, at least I finished this post didn't I?
I better start thinking about next week's TT!
No wait, I'll go read what the others are doing first!
You never know, it might be inspirational!
Care to join me?
They are all here ...

Wordless Wednesday Smelly Boots?

Anything unusual here?
No?

How about that second window?
It's open.
Open windows always make me very curious.

Let's zoom in a little ...

Can you see what they are?
These pictures were taken in an abbey.
My guess is one of the monks living there just could not stand
.... the smell of his boots anymore?
I love it when I can capture something like that!

Have a great (Wordless) Wednesday,
and don't forget to visit the other players!

Tackle it Tuesday, done on a Thirsday ...

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Every once and a while a girl needs a little incentive.
So I decided to join in again this week,
I find it very inspiring to watch other people work, (hehe!)
so I thought I'd share some of the chores I tackled recently.

I had an endless list of things to do two weeks ago Thirsday,
but I managed to tackle them all...

1. Write a post for this blog.
2. Blog another one for the next day.
#1 and #2, well hey I managed to post something
every day for four months now, it's not always easy!
I guess it's no big deal huh?
3. Wash all the curtains in my living room.
Four floor-to-ceiling ones! AND iron them as well!
4. Iron the tablecloth and seat covers from my kitchen.
5. Vacuum the whole appartment.
6. Dust the furniture.
7. Clean all of the floors.
I've done them all and even managed to take pictures while doing so!

8. Iron my husband's trousers.
This one had to wait until the next Sunday morning, when I made his suitcase!
9. Bake a bread. Done, although I do use the "all-in-one flour" lately!
All I have to do is add some water, knead ... rise .. done!
Gives me some extra blogging time!
10. Reorganize one of my kitchen drawers.
There's a before and after in the slide show!
11. Do some shopping.
12. Prepare a meal for tonight.
I skipped the shopping and defrosted a meal out of the freezer!
Don't look at me like that, the meal was homecooked!
A little while ago that is? !!! Nothing wrong with that is there?
13. Empty the dishwasher.
It was already empty, so that one was easy!
But I filled it up again. That counts doesn't it?

Anyway, I even managed to make some yoghurt too!
And check the fridge.
I was exhausted but it was worth it,
and the next day I could take my sister
for a cup of coffee and do a little discovery tour around Antwerp!
Care to walk with us?
Click this link!
Let's go do some sight seeing in Antwerp !

Oh and don't forget to give your support
